Welcome to the Computer Lab for 2009 - 2010!
All classes (grades K-8) will continue working on keyboarding skills and practice math flash cards. Specific project breakdowns are:
Grades K-2: We are learning about the computer and technology through a story in MaxWrite (an interface program with PowerPoint). Students are editing a slide show story about a Bear family who receives a special package (a computer). Students will learn more about the computer (and technology) as the story evolves.
Grades 3-5: We are going to work in a more independent setting this year. Students will be writing and illustrating their own story in PowerPoint. Once everyone has finished, the template they used converts into a program that allows them to read each others stories using the Promise reading strategy. It will record the reader's thoughts and questions under each applicable Promise category and measure how many times they applied their skills in each.

Grades 6-8: We are using a team approach! Students are working in teams of 4-5 and using a WIKI on the Internet (http://sj1788.wikispaces.com/) to learn about the U.S. Constitution and use what they learn to compose their very own school constitution! It will require a lot of exploration and collaboration! In addition, grades 6-8 are using some lab time to prepare for their science fair. This year, students will give a PowerPoint presentation (instead of a verbal presentation) to explain their project.
